Use decorative bark in borders, large beds and pathways, as well as a natural mulching material. A layer of bark across soil will help inhibit weed growth as well as helping the soil retain moisture during hot weather periods. Try adding a layer during colder, winter months to provide a blanket of insulation to your soil and plants, helping to protect plants from potentially damaging frosts.
